Let us remember FICM 2010
Last year my sister and I were pretty excited because we were in the official selection for the Morelia International Film Festival, which is considered to be the most important Film Festival in Latin America.
This is the short film we entered and in October 2010 won an award at the Festival.
Don’t worry if you don’t understand the film, most people don’t.
Against all odds
We have been working since February on “El Fuego de Tina” and it’s been a really slow process.
Our goal was to enter this film to the Morelia International Film Festival.
So many things have happened so the film doesn’t make it to the deadline, which is tomorrow Friday 10th. We still don’t have all the pieces to complete the film, but apparently the will all be in our hands tonight.
If everything goes as planned, we might still have a chance to submit the film. If 1 thing fails, we won’t make it.
It’s time to cross our fingers.

El Primero de la Familia
Birdo shot a short film called El Primero de la Familia last month having Miguel Fuentes as the co-producer, Christopher Ocampo as the DP, Patricia Fuentes as Location Sound, starring Francisco Fuentes as the main character and last but not least Riley Koenig as the composer.
The short film is ready and has been sent to a festival.
Working with a horse wasn’t easy, but we enjoyed it. It was a big challenge since half of the crew was allergic to the horse.
Wait for the short to be online soon.

El Fuego de Tina is almost ready
It’s exciting when a baby is about to come to the world to say Hi.
El Fuego de Tina has been in Production since February this year, and even though it’s only a 6 minute short film, a lot of people have been involved in the project.
Birdo was very lucky to meet Riley Koenig who is a very talented Film Composer from British Columbia, Canada. You can check out his work HERE
Riley came on board last week to compose music for El Fuego de Tina.
The last pieces are coming together and El Fuego de Tina will be ready for the big screen.
Thank you to all the people involved in the project, your cooperation and patience have made this possible.

Birdo’s new DEMO REEL!
Please take a look at Birdo’s new demo reel with the latest stuff we’ve been working on.
We’ve worked very hard this last year to create more visual deliciousness, so here you go:

Color Correction
Birdo is getting ready to finish the latest short film EL FUEGO DE TINA. Picture’s locked and sound design should be starting soon.
In the meantime, color grading needs to be done.
Birdo is grading in After Effects.
AE’s color tools are good, but working with Colorista 2 is way better, lots of control. Having 3-way correctors, HSL controls, Keyers and keyframeble Masks is great.
There’s no excuse not to have a great color grade with Colorista 2 by Red Giant. I highly recommend it.

Waiting and waiting, but it’s OK.
Making personal projects is always fun, but there’s always a downside.
Not being able to pay people for their work is a nightmare, it just doesn’t feel good asking people to work for free. So I’m very thankful to all the people who always help out on projects.
Right now there’s a project Birdo just finished shooting and it’s now on the postproduction stage.
The problem is that 3d animation is needed, motion graphics, compositing, sound design, sound mixing and scoring.
I’ve found people to help me out with all these, but when you have no money, you kind of have to follow their schedule and wait, wait, and wait.
The good thing is, I don’t need to have this project ready until August, so I can wait, but when you have a deadline, it becomes a nightmare.
But what can I say, beggars can’t be choosers.
Stay tuned for Birdo’s next short film “El Fuego de Tina”
